How To Let Go Of Resistance – Part 2

June 4th, 2011 17 comments

Struggle & Resistance

We unknowingly create our own internal resistance by “trying” to create our lives on a surface level instead of from within.

In simple terms, we waste so much energy trying to consciously figure out what to do and how to do it. Then we view our reality based on all the judgments about what we don’t have or want to get rid.

Desire, anger and fear are at the root of all unconscious patterns that block your ability to create a new reality. Desire coming from ego (as opposed to authentic desire) creates a state of fear you won’t be successful or perhaps even fear you will be, and this triggers anxiety or anger about the details of how something is going to manifest or what’s not manifesting.

This then becomes your negative feedback loop, constantly reinforcing the self limiting thoughts and beliefs which keep you stuck.

The goal is to change your negative, automatic feedback loop so thoughts and emotions are in harmony and moving you to a better place.

I have discovered it is the “simple” things we do, the small steps we take that make a huge impact on the rest of our life. When we make small shifts in our energy patterns, we can change our entire experience. Our whole reality shifts and the entire way we understand how we are solely responsible for what we create becomes clear and alive. Read more…

Letting Go of Resistance!

Letting Go of Resistance

Letting Go Of Resistance

Do you sometimes find your emotions getting the better of you?

Is life not working out the way you planned?

Have you already tried self improvement techniques such as affirmations, visualization, goal setting, meditation or self-hypnosis – and you’re still stuck?

If you answered yes to those questions or any similar ones that might come to mind, then listen up because I am confident the information in this 2 part post is really going to help you break free.

In my private coaching I find the most difficult concept for others to grasp is how we “resist.” I believe resistance is the largest stumbling block for anyone working at achieving their dreams and goals.

Think about this for a moment, if you have been trying to improve your relationships, income, health, etc. and you are not seeing any measurable results, obviously there is something “blocking” you from making that shift and moving forward.

Merriam-Websters dictionary defines resistance as:

  • an opposing or retarding force.
  • a psychological defense mechanism wherein a patient rejects, denies, or otherwise opposes the therapeutic efforts of a psychotherapist.

Example of RESISTANCE
1. They have shown a stubborn resistance to change. Read more…

Self-help for Depression

From Mental Health to Depression

Crossing the bridge from mental health to depression

Far too often I see clients suffering from mild to severe forms of depression. While people get depressed for many reasons, depression self-help is more straightforward than many may imagine.

Many of my clients have endured tragic experiences of abuse, loss and trauma in their past and most believe it is those experiences that are to blame for their present depression.

While I have the greatest empathy for the pain that they have felt (being a survivor of child abuse myself) I do not agree that it is the experiences of trauma and loss ‘as such’ that is causing the depression.

I have found it is the feelings of resentment and holding a grudge that have arisen from these experiences and linger on to the present day, which are causing the depression.

Allow me to explain:

I have found (in myself and others) that in most cases of depression, people foster more or less conscious grudges against others from their past who they feel have harmed them. Read more…

Self Help For Stress

Guest Post by Tara Springett

Slow Down

People feel stressed for several reasons. They may experience conflicts and traumatic experiences of loss; which inflict massive amounts of stress on their lives. In most cases this type of stress subsides as time passes and life slowly returns to normality.

However, there are many people who suffer from chronic stress that is not caused by any acute trauma or conflict. It is this chronic stress that we will be looking at in this article.

Why are people chronically stressed?

Most people would think chronic stress is due to having too much work and too little time. In my experience the answer is not quite as straightforward. Yes, people who are stressed often have a diary bulging with urgent appointments with very little space between them. And if they are not at one of these meetings their personal life is chock-a-block with a massive amount of things which do not allow for a minute’s rest.

Mind you, I am not talking about single mothers with five children who need to have two jobs to make ends meet. I am talking about chronically stressed people who work normal job hours and have normal-sized families.

Why is it that so many people feel incredibly stressed in such a situation?

In order to find the answer we have to look a little deeper than time management and organization tools. Read more…

Do Your Thoughts Defeat You?

“Self-sabotage is when we say we want something and then go about making sure it doesn’t happen.” ~Alyce P. Cornyn-Selby~

Do you think a trained athlete goes into a game thinking, “I know I’m going to lose, I can just feel it.” Or, “I’ll never win this I’m just not as good as the others.” Or, “Who am I kidding, with my luck I’m going to lose.

No way! These people are not only trained in their field of expertise but they are “mentally” trained to prepare for the big events in their lives. They are mentally pumped up! They visualize peak performance. They see themselves winning. They master their mental skills so they perform at their best. They are in the “Zone.” Read more…

Controlling Emotions With Our Body

Our Posture Influences Emotion

Are your emotions getting the better of you?

Do you sometimes feel like you are stuck in a negative cycle, with no end in sight to the emotional suffering?

Then read on to discover how simple it can actually be to change your emotions.

Psychology Today recently printed an online article called “Action Creates Emotion” with the subtitle “Want to change how you’re feeling? Change what you’re doing.”

This is a very interesting article as it points out previous beliefs that emotion creates behavior are incorrect and in fact, behavior shapes our emotion.

The psychologist/philosopher William James was one of the first theorists to notice this counter-intuitive process. He believed that emotions arise out of the bodily actions we take in response to what is happening in our lives.

It is also important to note from the article, the comment “Human beings, prone as they are to prefer immediate rewards, often respond to discomfort by withdrawal and avoidance. Read more…

Impostor Syndrome ~ Self Sabotaging Behavior At It’s Worst

Guest Post – by Natalie Louise

Impostor Syndrome

Do you have an underlying fear that one day someone is going to push through your crowd of admirers, take you by the arm, and then insist on screaming to every one in sundry that all your success is a mistake, you are a fraud.. you are, in fact, an Impostor?

The Impostor Syndrome is when you have that feeling that you haven’t earned your success – that your success or achievements are the result of sheer luck or being in the right place at the right time.

You are always worried that others will discover that you really don’t know what you are doing – that you’re a phony.

It’s a feeling of being fake. Irrespective of your successes, there is still a pit of your stomach feeling that people find out that you are not as successful, smart, talented, good, or anything else positive, as they think you are.

The dread that you are going to be exposed as being an impostor or fake is always present. Your undercurrent of self-doubt within yourself makes it hard for you to want to draw attention to yourself. The more success and therefore more attention you bring yourself, the more vulnerable you are to being unmasked.

The feeling that you somehow don’t deserve your success, and you feel as though you are a fake, is chronic self doubt. Read more…

Iron Confidence

Guest Article – by Dalia Ashraf Mounir Ibrahim

How do you perceive yourself?

Are you brimming with self confidence; mentally and emotionally strong; feeling adequate with your intellectual capacity?

Do you speak your mind freely without fearing what others might think or say about you? Do you settle for less than respect?

How much on a scale from one to ten do you believe in yourself?

“A successful person is one who can lay a firm foundation with the bricks that others throw at him or her.” ~David Brinkley~

Many get emotionally devastated when someone rejects them or disagrees.

They let go of what they believe in and start believing what others say. They dig a deep hole and get stuck in it. They’re stuck because they allowed seeds of negativity planted by others to grow and begin to agree with what others have said.

This type of thinking can only lead you down a path of self-judgment and self-criticism; creating unwanted feelings that you’re just not good enough – inadequate. Read more…

Why Are You Stuck Where You Are?

May 8th, 2010 No comments

Your subconscious programming is mainly the result of genetic DNA passed on from ancestors and your childhood training. To a lesser degree, the subconscious is influenced by your experiences.

On both this blog and The Free Self Help Tutorial at my website I write extensively about how this programming is responsible for why we are stuck; continuously repeating negative patterns.

Much of my information is based on scientific brain research and the teachings of those more knowledgable than myself.

Every once in a while, I gain access to information that eloquently explains how our subconscious beliefs result in where we are today – and more importantly where we will be in the future.

Today, I watched an eye opening video where Bob Proctor let’s us in on the “real” secret to life and why we get stuck.

I highly recommend this video and suggest you go watch it now, before Bob decides to take it down.

Human Brain

How about a humorous look at the human brain?

Since my last post was a very sobering reality check, I thought it would be good to follow up with a video to help put a smile back on your face.

Who knows, maybe this funny video could help you understand male/female relationships and why we have so much trouble communicating with each other.

This brain video is slightly over 10 minutes, so site back and enjoy.
